Live in color

Photobucket
aa button up shirt, skirt, vintage scarf, dance shoes

Hate to bore you with another work outfit, but this is most definitely one of my favorite ones to wear.
Wearing a scarf as a belt is a nice and simple way to make any simple outfit look colorful, polished and complete.
It's also fun to loosely tie the scarf around your neck with blouses. I tried with this outfit but it looked a little girl-scout-y. Trying to steer clear of anything too costumey. Sock might have been nice with this.
Also, hope you noticed that I'm not wearing a stitch of black- it IS possible! It's summer, so now is the time to wear colors
:)

Hope you enjoyed a day off, Memorial Day has really lost its original purpose.
Instead of commemorating the soldiers that die fighting, people go shopping. And I am their slave.

Finally finals!

Photobucket

Photobucket

AA tights, dress, cardi; nine west purse; bongo oxfords

The truth is out! These oxford heels are Bongo and I got them for $20 at Marshalls a few seasons ago.
I am so trashy white girl wearing Bongo heels, but whatevs. They are cute!

So cheers to another day of finals [done]. That is most definitely the reason for my stale facial expressions in recent posts. Philosophy essay final was today at 8am and I nailed it! Consider me the guru of philosophy (not really, not at all). But I can tell you the three classical proofs of God's existence are BOGUS. Sorry to all you believers, I don't mean to offend you. But if you look up the ontological, cosmological and teleological arguments that "prove" God exist, you will probably laugh too.

Back to fashion. Go to Marshalls. Go to TJ Maxx. Try it. What do you have to lose? Finding a good pair of shoes in unexpected places feels like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It's that good. Plus in the end, you have "fashion secrets." Tee hee.

Good luck to all of you that have tests coming up. I have faith in you!
Now, enough procrastinating, I need to finish this term paper :(

Lady on the street

Photobucket
aa lace unitard, shorts, tee, berry nailpolish; thrifted belt & loafters; nars "gipsy" lip color

While running for some Tutti Melon before my shift started, a 60-year-old woman passed me and said, "Woooo nice legs! Look at those!!" I was shocked by this response because usually older woman give me the stink-eye when I'm wearing lace.
And THEN- a bald man carrying a ton of Banana Republic (sigh) bags said, "nice outfit." In the NON-sarcastic way.
What? Could it be? Genuine compliments? How lovely!
So easy so say I felt really confident wearing this.

Of course this confidence was shattered by constructive criticism What I Wore Today goers commented on my outfit- but forget the haters and love who you are, that's what I believe (or in this case, what you wear).

These penny loafers are ready to expire- they are tattered, water damaged and worn.
But I simply can't give them up- they are comfortable, conveniently match this belt and have a spot in my heart.
So ignore the nasty loafers in this photo, I suppose.

So- unitards.
WEIRD!!! Right? Sure they are.
But I'm happy to say they are so comfortable!
When I get home, I like to lounge around my room in this unitard, it's a great confidence booster :)

Special thanks to Rob for taking my photo!

American Apparel high-waisted shorts, long sleeve v bodysuit, sash around neck, beret, polka dot calf socks; thrifted loafers, blazer & belt/ On Jesse: American Apparel button up, cardigan, peacot, slacks, beret, seedstitch tie & glasses

Worn on Black Friday to "support the gays," Jesse and I showed up to work feeling a little bit London for a day. Jesse is one of my co-workers and I ultimately trust him when it comes to fashion advice. He's studying Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute in SF. He helps me with a lot of the store merchandising and he's always my voice of reason of going too overboard ("you should probably take off those glasses") or too under-board ("why aren't you wearing a push-up bra with that?").
Jesse is a lot of fun- he should really have a blog because he goes on crazy adventures and is always at the happening spots in San Francisco. If you want to get to know him or peek at all his happenings, follow his twitter.

Later that night, some coworkers and I went to a hookah bar nearby, Tarboosh. Where I ate tasty beef kebabs and hummus, and attempted to learn how to belly dance- go figure. There was live music and many diverse people singing along in Arabic and clapping. I was all about it- so much fun!

It's warm for November

Photobucket
AA high waisted pants, composition shirt, circle scarf; thrifted boots, urban sweatshirt bag; sbux asiago bagel and carmel macchiato

It's finally November.
I want sweet potato pie and scalloped potatoes!
I want to hand-crack my assorted nuts, delve into my current novel and sip on hot chocolate.
Get ready for some holiday tunes on my playlist- I'm the best at Christmas and rainy day mixes.
Just watched The Brothers Bloom today- Adrien Brody has the sexiest big shnoz I have ever seen. I want him.
Oh, you should also see the movie- it's hilarious/awkward/witty/slever/mind-boggling/intriguing/ect.

"Dope pants"

American Apparel long sleeve bodysuit and disco pants; thrifted flats; urban pocket-watch

I miss you guys- I miss the blogosphere. Sorry it's been so long.
Work has been crazy and I've been too stressed to try to look cute at school.
Plus I'm trying to enhance my social life but mu camera has been out of battery to capture these moments.
Right now I'm eating home-baked cake and watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix because it's been weeks since I've watched any Harry Potter!
Jeeeeeeez- Emma Watson is soooo gorgeous! And a Burberry model AND a Brown college student- oh the life.
The Half-Blood Prince DVD release date is December 7th (first on my Christmas list) and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 releases November 2010- CAN'T WAIT!

It's finally November- YAY!
Time for sweet potato pie- I will have to post the recipe because it is delish!

Raaaaaaaspberry beret

Photobucket

Photobucket
American Apparel navy disco pant, grey summer shirt, olive circle scarf, grey beret; Bongo bootie heels from Marshalls

I am learning hats with my hair is so ideal. With curly hair, it's easy to get terrible bed head or even just a bad hair day. Love this wool beret, didn't irritate my forehead until 12 hours later, when it was finally time to take the hat off.

This outfit was fun, comfortable and easy to wear. The pants are a big hit at my work with the young and old. They are soooo comfortable, I can't even begin to explain how much I love wearing them. Someone at Starbucks said my pants were "dope!" I really hope he was being sincere.

I'm sick of this community where everyone underdresses. It makes judgement so much more inevitable.
Please people, if you aren't going to dress yourself-- please do not stare and judge others that do, thank you very much!

Legs so two-smooth-sided

THESE LEGGINGS ARE THE BOMB. It's the perfect alternative to pantyhose and at some times- leggings.
I'm considering meshing up my wardrobe now.

American Apparel tye-dye unitard, black sweetheart dress, cranberry scarf, borrowed/thrifted red pumps, f21 felt fedora

I know, I know, really terrible quality and lame photos. Haha, welcome to my kitchen, like the magnets?
These photos totally don't do the outfit justice, but I felt so good wearing it.
I'm wearing a bodysuit/unitard under the dress to prevent it from riding up and it creates a pretty cute detail in the back where the tye-dye shows through the mesh.
When I wore this outfit- it made me really think about moving to LA. I would wear this every day if I could, love the outfit! Hate wearing pants! :D
Bought the hat this weekend at F21, I'm been scouting for one like it the past few months but have been very reluctant to buy one. This one is thick felt and I love the color, especially with my hair color.
Borrowed the pumps from my sister, recently I have been buying the stuff she picks up from thrift stores from her, she's my buyer, I love her taste but somehow the shoes always fit me better. I guess I have a more common foot? I don't know but thank goodness we are about the same shoe size.
I know the pictures aren't great- but at least I'm posting.

Love you all,
esb

Crop me in

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
american apparel high-waist zipper shorts & oversized crop top, urban outfitters pocket watch, payless bow-tie flats

I was never a big fan of bikinis, tankinis or tummy tops when I was younger. But a little high-waist action to even it all out was painless enough.
I was so excited to get the pocket watch from urban. I had been debating whether or not to invest in a Betsey Johnson watch.

I decided I'm just not ready for that kind of responsibility (taking off for showering & washing hands, keeping in safe place from breaking, replacing battery every so many months, ect). I found this pocket watch as an efficient alternative.
Wore this outfit to work from 9-5pm. I kept the jacket on for most of the day- it already feels like autumn here. I start school in two weeks, can you believe that?
Recently cleaned out my closet and organized most of my clothes- excited to wear things that have been hiding at the bottom of my drawer.
All for now <3

Chains substitute braids

another day at American Apparel:

army big pocket tank
royal blue bandeau bra
creme jersey braided belt
gold plated chain (last photo)
pique bloomers (can't see 'em)
boots: aldo

I was originally wearing the outfit with a brown & gold chain necklace. It's not in these photos, sorry!
My co-worker and I were fooling around with the way I wore the big pocket tank with the braided belt. We wrapped gold chains from armpit to armpit and created a racer-back- not so much my style but it looks cool. It would suit better with black I think.
I think the way the chain weighs the tank down so you can see below my bra is more flattering. Otherwise- the shoulder blades look fat (in the second photo).
I wore the braided belt with the tank because I wasn't feeling the huge exposed armpits for that day. It makes the dress fit a little bit snug in the front with all the fabric gathered in the back.
Like it? :D

Check back soon for some dude fashion posts!

My favorite sweetheart

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

American Apparel:
sea blue pencil skirt
black on black sweetheart dress
sheer black tights

This is my favorite way to wear the dress! Like I said before, the sweetheart dress is a little bit too intense to wear all on it's own. So choose the top or the bottom and make an outfit out of it. I saw one pre-pubescent girl try it on and just roll it up to make a top. It didn't look that bad.
My posts have been sooooo American Apparel lately, but I worked forty hours this week, so I really didn't have too much time off to have a real life or wear anything but AA.

June 9, 2009

I'll be your sweetheart!

Oh yeah, I totally forgot to show you the sweetheart dress!
Ugh these are terrible photos but just wanted to give you a look:

Beware! The dress rides up.
When I got to work, I bought a pair of black sheer tights, it really helps the dress stay down.
I also put a silver baby rib cardigan over it:

I don't really like to wear the dress by itself. One day I wore it with a tee-shirt over, it was all right. My favorite version was wearing it with a sea blue interlock pencil skirt over it. Sorry I don't have a better picture, but I'll be sure to wear the same this again this week and take a good photo- it was really really cute. Here's my store manager and I out to dinner to say good-bye to one of the keyholders already featured

Now the dress comes with a neon splatter pattern. I'm not so enthused. The mint is pretty cute though.

Cheers to working forty hours this next coming week. I'll try to post my work outfits everyday, a lot of times people come in and ask what I'm wearing- then buy it. I guess that's how retail works. It's so fun to try different things with the clothes. I just learned that I'm getting a summer allowance in the beginning of July so that will be a fun shopping spree. I have to start making a list of what I want to get. I don't even know what I'm going to get.. we just got the Big T-Shirt in white with thin black stripes. It's really cute- they don't have it on the Web site yet, but once they do, I'll be sure to post it on here.

Any suggestions?
If you got mad credit from American Apparel- what would you buy?

Let's take a vote:
What do you want to see me wear?

Maybe I'll try all the items on and take a picture wearing them. It could help your decision :-P

Oh, Cincinnati, OH

One of my co-workers is leaving! I'm actually replacing her once she moves back to Cincinnati, yay for my promotion, boo for a losing her to Ohio.

American Apparel:
black drawstring dress
tri-athletic gray tank top

white gladiator sandals (tj maxx)
cute scarf around the ankle!
nice tan (weekend camping at a lake)

You have now seen two pairs of cute shoes from Marshalls/TJ Maxx on my blog. Remember the cute brown victorian booties I got from Marshalls? Thought I'd ice the cake here with this video, it's a commercial I'm sure you all have seen but I crack up every time!:

Another day at American Apparel:
black deep v tee shirt
black high waisted side-zipper twill shorts
wistful opaque over-the-knee cable knit socks
black boots (gifted from a bffl)

I wore a jean jacket over this outfit on my way to work. So 90's. And it doesn't bother me.
Once I left work, however, to go to school.. my shorts felt too small and I was a little ashamed.
I may get another pair one size up to wear in public.
Sorry about that second photo, I thought it was going to turn out a lot cooler looking. Now I see it so big, it looks sort of pathetic.
But you GOTTA love the side zippers :D But, I warn you, don't unzip them- it looks too silly.

Minnie in a mini

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I was working earlier this day. American Apparel:

sea blue interlock pencil skirt (worn as dress)
white tee shirt
gray thigh high socks
silver long sleeve cardigan

obnoxious oversized sweater (thrifted)
tassle boots: aldo

Don't ask about Minnie Mouse, I was just feelin' it.
I'm so sorry the photo is blurry, we had technical difficulties.
The sweater in the second photo was bough for my ugly sweater Christmas party and I wanted another excuse to wear it. I'm secretly in love with it! It's comfortable and soft and warm and hideous.

What do you think:
Is the sweater hideous or wearable?
