Last dance, last chance for love

Photobucket thrifted sequin crop top; aa disco pants; bp jean jacket; steve madden wedges
Saturday nights at the Redwood Roller Rink are "Disco Skate" themed.
They play corny disco songs like Last Dance by Donna Summer and my personal favorite, September by Earth Wind and Fire.
They turn off the house lights and turn on the disco nights, and kids come to skate the night away.
Should be told, it's somewhat of a workout and also really fun with a open-minded group of friends.

Excuse the poor quality of my camera phone pictures.
Wish I had more pictures of the rollerdisco to share with you! This won't be my last visit so I've got to brainstorm for more outfit ideas.
We stopped in a sketchy part of town to pick up some beverages, which is where my photo was taken.
Not going to lie- once I took the skates off, I felt like CholaGaga wearing this!

Wicked!

Photobucket
Thrifted lace, pants, shoes, satchel; AA tights; f21 earrings; Nars lip colour

This is the ultimate thrift outfit. That sounds so snobby and dumb but these pieces are a few of my favorite thrift finds.
I found the long sleeve lace tee at Thriftown on Mission Street.
The high-waisted pants were a treasure from Wasteland. As were the flats (gift from my sister).

I really love this outfit, as "outdated" and "90's mommy" it may be.
It is more important to feel great and love what you're wearing than dress to impress your society and/or peers. That's the beauty behind fashion. You are out to impress yourself. I am constantly challenging myself to create looks that inspired me.

I bought tickets to see Wicked with my ma for Mother's Day. We celebrated rather late but with finals and whatnot, the timing was perfect. My mother and I made a real trip out of it. We rummaged through her closet and picked this nice ensemble for her to wear. She doesn't go "out on the town" very often so we got quite giddy putting outfits together.

When I look at this picture, I see that my mother has really influenced my personal style. Penny loafers, linen pants, button-up shirts, the floral fabric she uses for quilting.. her taste is reflected in my style. I used to hate to admit that she influenced me, but now I am happy to say it! My mom is one of my best friends! She is cute and dainty and the most patient and valuable shopping buddy.

Go thank your mom for her fashion advice! Whether she used to your buy clothes for you (boys), or lay out your outfits every day (girls), she helped you become the confident fashion-oriented person you are today!

Oh! If you haven't seen Wicked already, go see it at the Orpheum Theater in SF before it is too late- you won't regret it!

Riding dirty

Still not sure how I feel about these pants.
The color is lovely, they are SO comfortable and pretty slimming.
But that extra slab of fabric on the knee doesn't really serve a purpose, and I'm all about purpose.

What do you think?

On a very bizarre night of my life, I agreed to tag along with friends to see a buddy DJ and electronic set in a local dive bar. Little did I know I would be surrounded by suburban ravers in bandanas with party cups in a half-empty room. Should be told, I was impressed by the talented suburban kids with hip-hop skills. All together, a pretty decently hilarious night.

Trying to be a girl

I go through food phases, we all do.
The reoccurring question is "what should I buy for lunches this week?"
or "what have I been leaving out of my diet?"
I'm constantly searching for new snack-to-go ideas or quick, small meal ideas.

Recent grocery items
walnuts
fresh tossed greens
raspberry walnut vinaigrette dressing
granola
yogurt
bananas
string cheese
chocolate soymilk

I have been actively working toward becoming a better girl by increasing girly habits.
Right now I'm working on washing my make-up off every night, moisturizing, flossing every night, wearing make-up, wearing lipstick(!) and organizing my closet.
The past few weeks I have been begging my friends to give me beauty advice.
A lot of products were suggested and I'm going to share the ones I have been happy with so far.
Special thanks to Sara & Brooke!

I finally got out of my bed on a Friday night!! This somewhat hideous sequin top appeared at the bottom of my closet and I was inspired to wear it out. I wore it with high-wasted pants and pumps to a place on Mission Street for their "emo night."
Ended up having a fun time with my sister :)

Went out to dinner with some co-workers and friends for Jesse's birthday! He's the one in the Lady Gaga crown- duh.
Jesse helped me realize I need some fur in my life, so I'm on the prowl for a fur cap or coat.
Love my velvet dress for the holiday season. Can't wait to have my dinner parties.
I need to start thinking about a New Years dress, my favorite!

We went to dinner at this place called Coda on Mission in San Francisco.
There's a live jazz band and one crazy woman dancing. So fun.

I had mixed greens in balsamic dressing ($6.oo)
Potato bud seared scallops in a cauliflower puree ($11.oo)
Fried sweet potatoes ($4.75)

Birthday boy in his birthday suit with some fashionistas. Aren't they cute!
I love the buckled bootie heels, zipper bustier and textured tights.
And I see not one, but two old-fashioned key necklaces.

All for now,

"Are you going to name this post 'smooth criminal?'"

Photobucket
thrifted blazer, penny loafers, belt; cheap monday pants; aa bodysuit, cableknit socks; f21 hat, broach

Hello, belly button.
Thanks to my sister for taking this photo!

Got the "Russian Red" lipstick at Mac today. I'm finally taking steps toward buying nice make-up.
Went to the mall today (ugh). Tried to buy a pair of studded oxfords I've been eyeing at Aldo for a few weeks.
They didn't have my size in-store so I ordered a pair- can't wait until they come!
I also bought two pairs of Aldo tights and one from F21, plus a holiday satin headband and the broach shown above.
I need to accessorize!

Thanksgiving! Baked a pecan and sweet potato pie tonight.
Can't wait for the turkey, mashed potatoes, pies & FOOTBALL (on a new television) !!!

Holiday outfits are the best!

Thrifted denim skirt ($4) and Liz Claiborne pumps ($5) at La Bomba Vintage in Long Beach, California

Playing with the colors in these photos was so much fun. Red lipstick can turn a boring night into a ball! Don't be afraid to get silly :P
La Bomba Vintage Stores have pile sales. In the back of the store there is this six foot tall twenty foot wide pile of clothes for dirt cheap! It was scorching hot but worth the sweat and sorting. I also bought a sort-of-ugly knitted sweater, mostly because of the $10 purchase requirement to participate in the pile sale. Totally worth it.
